Cozy’s Five Favorite Holiday Hairstyles (and How to Do Them)
The holidays are here and that means parties, concerts, fancy meals and, of course, lots of picture taking. I’m sharing five of my favorite holiday hairstyles that are actually just simple everyday looks that you can easily elevate for special occasions.
The Twisty Ballerina Bun
I love this hairstyle for two reasons: One, the simple twist makes this feel “fancier” than a regular ballerina bun, and two, this is a sturdy, stay-put hairstyle that can last all day long, no matter the activity. That means no fussing with her hair when you should be sipping holiday punch!

Elevate the look: Add some glitter for a bit of sparkle, or tuck fresh holly berries or simple charms into the twist.
The Single Twisty
This is a favorite go-to style that is absolutely ideal for any texture of hair or length. I love this for the holidays because it ensures that whether she’s performing in the winter concert or taking a photo with the grandparents, this simple twist keeps hair out of her face. Bravo!
How to do it: Follow my step-by-step instructions here.
Elevate the look: Color one or both of the twists with streaks of color (simple non-toxic sidewalk chalk works great), or weave a thin ribbon between the two strands.
The Fifa Look
I love this look for boys because it looks both cool and styled at the same time. No need to comb his hair flat and slicked down on the sides. After all, you want him to look like himself with just a little more oomph!

Elevate the look: You could add a little punk rock flare by coloring a few strands of hair in the front with some non-toxic sidewalk chalk.
She will look and feel like royalty with this hairstyle, and if you can braid, you can pull this off. I love this for the holidays because it’s so easy to adorn with special clips or barrettes to make it feel really special.
How to do it: Follow my step-by-step instructions here.
Elevate the look: Weave a satin ribbon into the braid or tuck little fresh flowers all around the crown. Gorgeous!
The Wrapped Pony
If you think you only have time enough for a quick ponytail, you have time to do this super simple Wrapped Pony. I love it high on the head genie-style, but you could do it anywhere you like. It’s fun, fresh and can be perfectly festive!
How to do it: Follow my step-by-step instructions here.
Elevate the look: There are so many ways to dress this up. Tie a ribbon around the base or attach a sparkly barrette; add colorful streaks in the ponytail or add a bunch curls with a curling iron.
