Little Mayhem, Big Ideas
Some little kids dream of becoming fashion designers when they grow up, but one little girl decided not to wait so long to make it happen. Meet the girl known as Mayhem, the Instagram superstar who cannot tie shoes, but can design them. In fact, she did just that (along with clothing and accessories) in her exclusive collaboration with J.Crew called Little Mayhem™.
Mayhem got her start creating clothes out of paper with her mom when regular dress up got a little boring. Think craft-closet-meets-Project-Runway-meets-Doogie-Howser.
Nearly every day, a new dress was created to post. And the Internet started eating it up.
Need a knockoff of your favorite red carpet look? Mayhem’s got it.
But maybe her best features are originals.
Her work has been noticed by the biggest names in fashion, including Glamour, Harpers Bazaar, and, of course, Vogue. Check out her tribute to the late great Oscar de la Renta.
It was probably only a matter of time before somebody handed her the reigns (and some actual fabric). Her collection with J.Crew is full of the same sophistication and whimsy her fans have come to expect.
We offer a big bravo to this big-spirited preschooler. Landing a big deal with a major designer at age four? Not bad. (Perhaps she won’t need those “poucons” after all.) We can’t wait to see what she creates next.
