Who Run the World? Moms!
You already know that moms are the chief operating officers of households, running things with grace, grit and the efficiency of a sleek Swedish appliance, but did you know that the force behind some of your favorite brands, businesses and entertainment are not only moguls but mamas, too?
It comes as no surprise to us, of course, since SoCozy is led by working mom extraordinaire, Cozy Friedman, but we still loved delving into this new list from Business Insider’s list of the 50 Most Powerful Working Moms of 2015 to see amazing women who are juggling motherhood and career like a boss. Or, rather, like a mom. It seems the terms are interchangeable.
Power moms like Beyoncé, Angelina Jolie and Shonda Rhimes make the list, but did you know that working moms are filling top executive positions at JP Morgan Chase (Mary Callahan Erdoes), CitiBank (Jane Fraser), Apple (Angela Arendts), Facebook (Sheryl Sandberg and Carolyn Everson), and World Bank (Sri Muliyani Indrawati)? The CEO of YouTube is mom Susan Wojcicki. (We wonder if she ever yells at her kids to get off of YouTube?). Business woman and philanthropist Melinda Gates is mom to three teenagers, and Mary Barra, the CEO of General Motors has two teenagers too. And the person leading us into commercial space exploration at SpaceX is Gwynne Shotwell, a mom and self-admitted Trekkie.
Check out the entire list and get inspired as we did. The more moms fill the workforce, the better the workforce becomes for moms, so we offer a heartfelt hat tip to these amazing women! (And wish them a belated Happy Mother’s Day too!).
