Lice Prevention

Lice can’t jump or fly (they can’t even dance), so simple precautions can keep kids safe. Preventing lice is as easy as 1-2-3:

  1. Don’t over-share. Our simple rhyme is a good rule of thumb: If it touches hair, we don’t share. This means saying no to borrowed combs, hairbrushes, hats, scarves, helmets, hair accessories and pillows. And for older kids, headphones and earbuds are a common transportation device for lice, so it’s best to keep your pair to yourself.
  2. Don’t over-wash. Lice LOVE a squeaky-clean hair shaft because it makes attaching their eggs (called nits) easy. The natural buildup of oils on the scalp between shampoos is a simple, natural way to keep lice from setting up camp on your child’s scalp. Allow at least two or three days between washings for best results. An added bonus? Those natural oils make hair naturally shiny!
  3. Scare Lice Away with BOO! Our BOO! Shampoo and BOO! Lice Prevention Spray are designed for kids of all ages. Made with essential oils that scare away lice, our BOO! products are a smart line of defense against lice. Use the Shampoo 2-3 times per week at bath time, and use the Lice Prevention Spray daily, with just a few spritz around the ears and nape of the neck where lice tend to be found. You can also use the spray on pillows, hats, combs and brushes and anything else that frequently touches hair (even weird Uncle Frank).
